Annoucements
- The library will close at 2pm on Friday May 27th.
- The Schmid Law Library is closed to non-College of Law affiliates. Appointments are available Monday-Friday 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. To schedule an appointment contactlawref@unl.edu or call 402-472-3547.
- The Library will be closed on Monday, May 30th for Memorial Day.
- The library is under an 18-month renovation. The lower level and first floor south-side are currently closed. Seating is limited throughout the library and all books have been relocated. Contact a librarian to make sure you can access the books you need.

Research Guides
Schmid Law Librarians have created a series of guides that provide research assistance for various subject areas, topics, and classes. The guides include bibliographies of useful resources as well as research tips and suggestions. Examples of available guides include real estate transactions, water law, and Native American law.
Nebraska Legal Resources
Use our Nebraska State Law Resources Guide to access recent opinions from the Nebraska Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, as well as selected opinions from the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals and other federal courts. The Guide also provides access to local municipal codes and other resources from Nebraska Administrative Offices.

Nebraska Public Library Toolkit
The Nebraska Public Library Toolkit provides helpful links to Nebraska primary legal resources, including court opinions, statutes, regulations, and the Nebraska Constitution. The Toolkit also contains links to resources commonly needed by self-represented litigants, including forms, directories, and virtual self-help centers.
Patent & Trademark Resource Center (PTRC)
The Schmid Law Library's PTRC is a complete resource for entrepreneurs and inventors who are looking to register their own trademarks or want to file their own patents. The PTRC can provide guidance on how to search for patents or trademarks and file appropriate applications.
Archives
The Schmid Law Library has archival materials for J. Lee Rankin, former U.S. Solicitor General and Nebraska Law alumnus.

Building Our Community
The Marvin and Virginia Schmid Law Library is undergoing a facelift that will provide new and rejuvenated spaces for our community. The $6 million renovation will add two state-of-the art classrooms and allow our talented faculty to teach students the latest techniques for using technology and digital resources to solve problems and advance justice.
